Surviving

Today was rough - but we all made it to bedtime with our sanity :-) At least Asher does have some cute times throughout the day, plus he is photogenic so we always have some good evidence of his moods! And he's almost always so cute just before bed (and the screaming that often follows) so at least we all feel good about the day once it's over.

Here is 1 cute photo I was able to take and edit today. More cute ones to come!!!

So tired :-)

Yes, I know, most moms are perpetually tired. And I used to be tired often even before I was a mom, but still, that doesn't make  it much easier! I'm at this stage where I feel like so many moms just forgot to tell me about. They talk about when they are babies and sleep all the time... does that stage really ever last more than a week or so? Then they talk about learning to walk and talk and starting to discipline and train their children... why does no one warn about all those months inbetween? I keep reminding myself that every stage has it's difficulties but I am definitely looking forward to some greater rewards.

Let me explain before you all come over and encourage me to see a therapist or something.

I'm totally convinced that Asher's mind is too far advanced for his body. See, he thinks that he should eat baby cereal or some other vegetable EVERY time he gets formula but he isn't old enough to eat baby snacks or chew on food (besides the fact that he acts like he's starving only 3 hours later) but he really is convinced that he could. We bought him these baby rice crackers and he doesn't really get it - although, it doesn't seem to phase him thinking he does :-) Also, he loves to roll around and try to grab all the designs off his playmat... for all of 5 seconds at least. I'll put him down to play while I make dinner or wash dishes or something and I am walking over to him turning him over or trying to give him another toy almost every 2 minutes when I can no longer tolerate the crying and screaming.

I don't want to complain b/c things could always be worse - and I want to enjoy all of Asher's time growing up, but I cannot wait until Asher can actually DO some of the things he wants to do. He's a great eater and he falls asleep on his own wonderfully. He smiles a lot and loves to get his diaper changed. He is a great kid for sure! Mark and I can already see his personality coming out in these things. He gets frustrated easily and wants to try to do anything he can imagine, which is a great combination when directed in the right way... but it's tough to direct a 4.5 month old!

All this is really just to say that I'm feeling a bit tired, mostly incapable and am determined to encourage all moms in this phase and let them know that it is tougher than anyone lets on. All the feeding, changing diapers and cleaning is a piece of cake... staying cheerful all day, everyday in the face of a small, fussy baby is the toughest part so far! Let's just say I am realizing how much I really need God to work in my heart to make me a loving mom. I always seem to think I can do things on my own and always find out that it was God doing everything all along.

Too Cute!

Big Boy

Asher is growing up so fast! Just the other day he rolled over like it was no big deal! Then, he rolled back. He finally figured out how to use his arms to support himself while on his tummy so now he doesn't grunt and cry like crazy anymore - at least not with that activity :-)

He had his 4 month well-check yesterday, I know, I scheduled it a bit late! But anyway, he was 16 lbs (90%), 25" (70%) and his head was 45.4 cm (over 95%)!!!

Anyway, I've got some major photo editing to do this week... talk to you later!

Photos and More Photos

I need to step it up with my photography. It's been on the back burner since I got pregnant... and while taking care of Asher is still my 1st priority I really need to continue to make progress with my photos and keep getting better. Here's one of Asher I took this morning...

I think I'll start with some senior photos this summer and see if I can get some business there. I figure if I do them for a good rate (not cheap, just not as expensive as RJ or anything) then hopefully I can make some good contacts and get some more referrals for other jobs as well.

Anyway, let me know if you have friends or family you think may be interested. Here's a photo from a shoot I did last week too... have a great week everyone!

Happy 100!!!

So, the reason we haven't posted in forever is b/c this is our 100th post! Well, see, we wanted it to be really awesome, super informative on what's going on in our lives and not just another photo from my iPhone :-) It's been too long so I'm just going to post something short and sweet!

We've been busy! Shooting photos, taking care of Asher, helping host a couple BBQ's and Mark working a job and a half! But things are good. Busyness is better than being bored on almost any day. The nice weather has been awesome - it wouldn't be so awesome if we didn't have air conditioning I'm sure :-) We've discovered that Asher loves being outside so we'll have to try and get him out more often while we still have sunny days.

Well, we'll post more later... probably more photos but eventually more to read as well! Meanwhile, here's an adorable photo of Asher in Cora's bumbo stool...
